Over 112 million people watched as the Seattle Seahwaks demolished the Denver Broncos in last Sunday’s Super Bowl, breaking the record for the most watched television event in US history. With such a huge audience, it’s no wonder that it has also become an annual showplace for ads. Every year, companies spend millions of dollars to get an ad spot on the Super Bowl. In fact, an ad on the Super Bowl can cost as much as $3.5 million. Still, we see ads that become instant classics while some leave us scratching our heads.

Many of the most memorable Super Bowl ads were by automakers, such as Volkswagen’s endearing ‘The Force‘ commercial from 2011, which racked up almost 60 million views on YouTube. This year, it looks like VW has done it again; the German automaker’s ‘Wings’ ad is the most watched among Super Bowl 2014 car ads so far.
