2016 Jeep Grand Cherokees Up for Recall Over New Transmission Issue
It was just last month when Chrysler had to recall of 1.1 million vehicles under its brands due to confusing shifters. It caused drivers to unconsciously fail to put their vehicles to park due to the unusual shifter lay-out. Just a few days ago, Chrysler is back at it again. This time, the automotive giant is recalling more than 37,000 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee units worldwide because of a faulty wiring harness that can lock the transmission to park or neutral after the SUV comes to a stop.
So far, there have been no reported injuries or deaths relating to the transmission issue. Owners of affected units should be receiving recall notices via mail within the next few days. For safety purposes, Chrysler urges the drivers to put on the parking brakes before exiting the vehicle.
Additional concerns can be relayed through the FCA Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.
