1.1 Million Chrysler Vehicles Being Recalled for Confusing Shifter
The automotive giant Fiat Chrysler announced on Friday that it will be recalling more than 1.1 million vehicles. The decision was made after the rising count of accidents caused by vehicles rolling away. This occurs when the driver fails to properly put the shifter of the automatic transmission to park. During the study, the brand found out that the mistake is committed due to a confusing shifter lay-out.
As of now, there have been as many as 41 injuries already recorded. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration already reported in February over 314 complaints which includes 121 crashes.
The recall should cover more than 850,000 vehicles in North America alone. In other countries, the estimate tallies up to 250,000 units. It includes the following models:
2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2012-2014 Dodge Charger
Chrysler 300
