The 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE: Chevy’s Lethal Weapon
It has always been a constant battle among the big three American automotive manufacturers. Each has its own take on what a supreme pony car should be like. This all started in the late ‘60s when Chevy released the ’67 Chevrolet Camaro to eat Ford Mustangs alive for breakfast. Soon after the Dodge Challenger also got itself entangled in the rivalry. Since then, the motoring world would be on the constant lookout for the latest developments in this battlefield.
Dodge has been making noise since the start of the year to alert the automotive world about the imminent arrival of the Dodge Challenger Demon. But just a few days ago, the Bow Tie fired its own warning shot with a preview of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE running on the track.
Even at a quick glance, you can easily say that this Camaro means serious business with its mean snout that somehow resembles a knight’s helmet. You will also notice the air splitters spread throughout the width of the bumper. You can actually come close to saying that it looks like the Corvette with an angrier face.
Under the hood is a fierce 650-horsepower supercharged LT4 V8 block that comes from the Corvette. This heart is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with Active Rev Match. The power is then transferred to lightweight forged aluminum wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires for maximum gripping ability. All that power is matched by a set of Brembo disc brakes tuned to match the momentum of a spirited lady trimmed down of her fats.
The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE will be available in the showroom later this year. Until then, we are left to drool over the sheer awesomeness of this machine. This baby is expected to bring Chevy’s vengeance against those that want to shake down its status… and with a lethal dose.
