Own a Ride that’s Almost like the Regalia
We’ve talked about the car from the movie and its real-life counterpart; now let’s take a closer look at the one from the actual game and the different vehicle’s that inspired its creation.
To those who are unaware, the Regalia (picture above) is a fictional vehicle from the game Final Fantasy XV. It is a luxury convertible that exudes elegance and beauty. It is the protagonist’s main mode of transportation is a vehicle that is suited for royalty, which makes sense because in-game it is owned by the reigning King of Lucis. I can go on and on about how majestic and amazing it is and how it feels like a separate character on its own, but that’s not what I’ll do. Instead, I’ll list down every vehicle that inspired its creation.
Before we start, let’s first get a bit of perspective. It’s been stated that the car “…was inspired by German car manufacturers and a couple of British cars, as well.” It was also revealed at a gathering that the car was designed by researching Rolls-Royce luxury cars. Additionally, on one interview, artist Yusaku Nakaaki said that they were instructed to make the Regalia appear as if it would be worth $500, 000 in real life. And I don’t know about you, but I think they hit that one right on the head. Now with that out of the way, let’s get on with the list, shall we?
Note that these aren’t official references, but merely speculations and assumptions by fans who are well-versed in automobiles and Final Fantasy.
Cadillac Ciel – arguably the one that most resembles the Regalia
Maybach Exelero
Lincoln Continental- though it’s by an American manufacturer, some believe that it has a part in inspiring the Regalia’s design
Rolls-Royce Dawn
However, though these cars may look like the Regalia, there’s one thing that they can never hope to do—flying. Yep. The Regalia can fly. F-L-Y. Well, maybe in a few centuries we’ll see these vehicles take off too, but for now they’re still one feature short of competing with this supercar. Then again, at least they exist.
