Cars That Didn’t Quite Fit In Their Manufacturers’ Lineups

Car manufacturers have a particular image that they want to project in their lineups. Some brands exude luxury, others sportiness, and others practicality. Every now and then, however, one car truly stands out from a manufacturers’ lineup because of how it doesn’t really fit into the brand’s image.

Here are some examples of cars that didn’t quite fit in with their manufacturers’ lineups:

Scion FR-S

Here’s a shout out to Scion before Toyota puts it out to pasture. The FR-S was probably the only model in Scion’s lineup that can be described as desirable. It stood out not only because it was the most capable, it was also the only model in the brand’s current lineup to live up to its youth-oriented image. Luckily, the FR-S will still be sold in the US as a Toyota after Scion shuts down.

Nissan GT-R

Yes, Nissan did have the Z series and the Skyline series in the past, but the GT-R still stands out because of how technologically advanced it is compared to everything else Nissan currently sells. It’s a technological tour de force that’s being sold alongside the likes of the Versa and the Juke.

Aston Martin Cygnet

Everyone knows the Cygnet is just a rebadged Toyota iQ, and everyone knows the only reason Aston Martin even came up with the Cygnet is to comply with emissions regulations set by the European Union. In a showroom full of gorgeous metal like the DB9 and the Vantage, the Cygnet stood out like a sore thumb.

Mercedes Benz G-Class

You know Mercedes-Benz as a maker of refined luxury vehicles. Well, they’ve got one vehicle in the lineup that’s anything but refined. The G-Wagen is boxy, rugged, and all-around awesome!

Lexus LFA

Lexus, a company best known for mostly boring but ultra luxurious vehicles, pretty much went insane when it came out with the LFA. It was fast, it was loud, it was everything you don’t really associate Lexus with. It also cost an arm and a leg, but it was (still is?) the best Lexus ever.
