Cars That Made Awesome Comebacks

By on January 19, 2016

There are certain car models that get produced continuously, moving along with the times and getting facelifts and new generations through the years. There are others that have been discontinued and replaced with totally different models. And then there are some that were killed off, only to be revived at a later time.

Here are some examples of cars that “came back from the dead” better than ever:

  • Dodge Challenger

Sometime around the mid to late 2000’s, the pony car made a comeback. Ford, which continuously produced the Mustang through the years, finally came out with a car that did justice to the model name for the first time in many years. Chevy revived the Camaro after what seemed like an eternity. Dodge needed a slice of the pony car pie, so it came out with this, the third generation Challenger. Chrysler took a lot of design cues from the previous Challenger and put everything in a stylish, modern package.

  • Chevrolet Camaro

The Camaro wasn’t really gone for a long time (around eight years), but it seemed that way because the 4th generation Camaro was underwhelming, to say the least. Thankfully, GM came up with the fifth generation Camaro, one that actually looked like a legit muscle car. That and being the star of the Transformers films made the Camaro cool again!

  • Mini

Minis were continuously produced by a bunch of different companies for about 40 years. They never truly went away, but by the late 90s Minis were little more than iconic curiosities. When BMW bought Mini in 2000, it revitalized the brand, helping it expand and grow bigger than it ever had before.

  • Ford GT

Back in 2005, Ford paid homage to its great GT40 racing cars from the 1960s and came up with the Ford GT. It was probably one of the best cars of the past decade, combining great performance with a price tag that wasn’t in the stratosphere. Production of the second generation GT (pictured above) ended long ago, but the great thing is there’s a new one coming out soon. We can’t wait!

Those are just a few examples of cars that made amazing comebacks! Could you think of any others? Tell us in the comments!
