It has been an interesting week for the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. We saw the Japanese auto manufacturers battle it out with their American counterparts in the quest to be the trucks of choice across the 50 states. It’s as if the Japanese rides got injected with steroids to hustle their way into a line-up filled with American beasts. If you take a look back, the domestic trucks were often huge torque-y workhorses that had a commanding presence. When the smaller Japanese trucks arrived from the Pacific, they had a lot to prove and even a lot more convincing to do. They became bigger and stronger, and let to the first models that were run by huge V8 blocks.

In this year’s first big auto event, the match-up between the Ford and Nissan trucks became one of the highlights. The Ford F-150 Raptor has been making news since its inception a few years back. It was designed to be a more aggressive yet sporty take on the truck that Americans have grown to love. Nissan on the other hand, created the Titan as its poster boy for the full-size pick-up truck segment in the USA. As you can see, both trucks have a pronounced snout complemented by huge angular grilles and attractive headlights. The appeal is further supported by fender flares and fierce wheels wrapped with chunky off-road rubber.

Let’s go through these two pick-up trucks along with other interesting models.
