Spot the Difference: Chinese Knockoffs that Look Just Like the Real Thing
We’ve probably all seen knockoffs of branded clothes, shoes, watches, gadgets, and many other items. We know that they often look just as good as the real thing, though they never truly are as good as the real thing. They usually have inferior quality and don’t really last that long. The same could probably be said for these knockoff vehicles. Yes, even cars are copied now.
Check out these knockoffs from Chinese manufacturers:
- Great Wall Coolbear
Source: Wikipedia
It’s a hip, box-shaped, youth-oriented compact hatchback just like the Scion xB. In fact, when you look at it from the side, you’d think it was a Scion xB.
- BYD F3
Source: Wikipedia
The Toyota Corolla, bland as it may be, has been one of the most dependable, reliable, and best-selling cars for quite some time now. Maybe that’s why when making the F3, BYD decided to take the design of the ninth generation Corolla, change the headlights, and call it a day.
- Chery QQ3
Source: Wikipedia
The Daewoo Matiz/Chevy Spark was not a great car, and yet Chery decided to copy it still. This was so obviously a ripoff that the cars’ doors were interchangeable.
- Dongfeng Crazy Soldier
Source: Autoweb
You don’t have to be a soldier to drive a vehicle like the Hummer H1 or this blatant ripoff, but in these times of high gas prices, you’d probably be crazy to do so. How apt.
- Huanghai Plutus
Source: Carscoops
Take the Huanghai logo off, put a bow tie in its place, and voila, you’ve got yourself a Chevy Colorado.
- Land Wind X7
Source: Carscoops
If you put the X7 and the Range Rover Evoque side by side, you’d be hard-pressed to spot the differences.
- Lifan 320
Source: Wikipedia
Though not a carbon copy, you can still clearly see that the iconic Mini Cooper was Lifan’s ‘inspiration’ for the 320.
- Geely GE
Source: Complex
It has Rolls Royce Phantom looks at the fraction of the price!
- Shuanghuan SCEO
Source: Wikimedia
Source: Wikipedia
Shuanghuan’s SUV looks like a second generation CR-V (albeit bigger) from up front, a BMW X3 from the side, and a BMW X5 from the rear. Oh, and the brand’s logo looks just like that of Korean manufacturer Ssangyong. How original.
And there you go. Those are just some of the more blatant knockoffs we’ve seen come out of China. Know of any more? Tell us in the comments!
