10 Cool Ideas When Recycling Old Vehicles and Car Parts
They say that one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. This is definitely true when it comes to old vehicles and car parts. With enough ingenuity and creativity, that old tire or grille can be turned into something awesome. So the next time you find yourself stuck with an old car, don’t throw it in the junkyard just yet. Check out the list below for some cool ideas on how to repurpose old cars and parts:
1. The chick magnet
Benedetto Bufalino, a French artist, converted an old police car into a chicken coop. But you don’t have to be an artist to do this. You just need a bit of imagination, some pieces of lumber, and lots of chicken wire. Put some hay on the floor, and you’ve got a car that chicks will love.
Here’s another good idea if you’ve got chickens in need of a home and have an old vehicle lying around:
2. It’s BBQ time!
What a perfect way to celebrate your love for bacon and cars! Made from an old front bumper, this repurposed car is sure to make any BBQ party more interesting.
3. Additional shelf space
Another pretty awesome idea is to use an old car’s passenger cabin as shelves for your books and knick-knacks. Just take a look at this old Jaguar that was repurposed by a European design studio, Denieuwegeneratie. The trunk was converted into a cabinet, the engine was removed, and a large piece of the roof was cut out.
4. Quirky bus stop
After years of bringing kids to and from the school, an old school bus can be converted into a functional bus shelter just like this one. Pedestrians will surely stop at their tracks when they see this funky looking bus stop.
5. Comfy couch
If you’re tired of your old couch, why not make a new one from an old car seat and a bumper? The result is a gorgeous yet comfy couch you’ll want to sit on all day long.
As a matter of fact, you can actually create an entire living room set out of old car parts, such as this one that’s actually made from the parts of a 2002 BMW:
6. Funky mantelpiece
Another neat idea is to repurpose an old truck’s front bumper and turn it into a fireplace mantelpiece that’s sure to help keep you warm and cozy during those winter nights.
7. Aquatic wonderland for pets
Want a new fish tank that’s sure to catch every guest’s attention? Then why not make your own from an old car bumper? With enough imagination and the right tools, you can turn an old bumper into an aquatic wonderland just like this old Falcon.
8. Truck bed
Perfect for boys and boys at heart, this cool truck bed is made from an old Ford.
9. Crafty workspace
Combine your love for cars and the need for a new workspace to come up with an office space or desk from an old engine compartment. The possibilities are endless.
10. Snazzy bathroom/kitchen fixture
