For the past several years, different automakers have been involved in engineering vehicles that had electricity play a more crucial role. The technology integrated a combustion engine with an electric motor so that the two can share the load of providing power to the vehicle. The Toyota Prius became instrumental in advancing this technology. The industry knew it was only a matter of time before others followed suit with their very own models.

And now, MINI becomes one of the most recent brands to join the hybrid movement. The British automaker has just given the public a preview of its first plug-in hybrid model. Although the car is still in the development stage, the company eyes to release it soon.

The hybrid MINI will still take on the classic body styling that has resonated with the brand for a long time. But once you take a closer look, you will notice that there is a charging socket fitted somewhere in the left fender. Once you get inside, you will be greeted by the same instrument display, switches, and panels.

As for driving experience, you should expect the same go-kart feel prevalent in MINI’s line-up. It sticks low to the ground while giving you quick accelerations and nimble handling. While its combustion engine powers the front wheels, the electric motor delivers energy to the rear wheels. It can be switched between AUTO eDRIVE and MAX eDRIVE to provide you optimum driving pleasure.
