5 Worst Driving Habits

We all have bad habits and sad to say some of these apply to our driving. So which of these habits are you guilty of doing?

5. Speeding through a yellow light

Here is a just a quick recap of what the colors in our traffic lamps mean:

Red= Stop

Green = Go

YellowSlow down

Yes. You got that right! Yellow means slow down and not speed up, though let’s be honest, once or twice we have thought of speeding up.  There is no argument that speeding and beating the light is exciting and leaves your blood pumping but doing this too often can’t just lead to a ticket but can cost lives of other people. So next time when thinking of speeding up, think of the other vehicles next to you and slow down.

4. Not using your turning signal

Just like what Morpheus said, turn signals are there for a reason. Not using them when changing lanes or turning is not just annoying for other drivers, but it can also leave the vehicles behind you off guard and at worst, it might lead to an accident. So make sure and never forget using your turn signals!

3.  Cutting off other cars

We bet all of us experienced being cut off by other cars while driving, and yes, it’s not the best feeling in the world, but doing the same thing to others won’t really help solve anything. Cutting off other cars is another bad driving habit that could just ignite road rage, not to mention the increased risk of getting involved in an accident and causing harm to other vehicles.

 2. Tailgating

Drivers with this habit could be one of the most irritating drivers you could ever meet on the road. They will intimidate you by driving closely behind you and thinking that by doing this, you will drive  faster.

This type of habit is not just annoying to other drivers but it also leads to a lot of rear-end car accidents. This is why you should always remember to leave a gap of 3 seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you, unless you want to end up just like the driver below:

1. Using your mobile phone while driving

You don’t have to admit it but we are no stranger when it comes to this habit. It’s hard to resist not checking  your phone and wandering if you got an important message or if you have new notifications on your social media accounts. It might seem harmless at first, but just one mistake of looking at your phone can lead into an accident. Distracted driving is also one of the causes of numerous car accidents in the United States.  So if you are tempted to check your phone, find a spot where you can park and read or reply to all the messages.
